We spent two years living and riding in Mallorca - learning the climbs, the café stops, and which months are actually worth your time. This guide hands that over: when to ride, what the weather really does, and how to miss the crowds.
When to visit Mallorca
Mallorca rides well for most of the year - but the gap between the right month and the wrong one is wider than most people expect, in heat, in traffic, and in how much of the island you get to yourself. Here's how the seasons really break down.

MountainFamous for it's architecture & spectacular coast lines, this route will test the legs but reward the soul. Michael Douglas lives in the town.
MountainTourist hot spot & Lance Armstrong's 2nd home, Soller is nestled in the middle of the Tramuntana mountains. From the sea, the only way is up!
Hilly
Member SpecialSpecially designed by Brian & Cesar to kill the legs a few days before we moved back to London. Special climbs, scrambled legs, lots of fun.
MountainThe famous challenge requires a long day in the saddle, but is there any better way to really see the island?.. Maybe don't look for the 9 Monastery option!
MountainCatch the sunrise train to Palma & ride this beautiful & winding, cliff top roads all the way back again.
Member SpecialOur great friend & local crit hero Tiago wanted to put something particularly hard in our library, so here it is - named after his sausage dog Pippo.

Cycling Guides
Each one's a proper walk-through, not just a line on a map - the climbs before you reach them, the views worth stopping for, photos so you can picture it before you go, and where to stop for coffee. The kind of thing you'd usually pay a guide for. We just wrote it down.

SeaClub Apartments
We stayed here our first month in Alcudia - simple, clean, modern self-catering apartments around a pool, five minutes from the beach and quiet enough to recover after a long ride. Washing machines for your kit, wifi, free parking, room for two to six, and a fair price: a place we can recommend because we actually lived in it.
Where else to stay
THB Bamboo, Alcudia
Friends of ours stayed here and rated it - an adults-only four-star a hundred metres from Alcudia's beach, calm and quiet in the way you want after a long ride, with pools, a lagoon-view terrace and a gym for ticking over off the bike. Breakfast and dinner both sorted, and properly good value for the standard.
Mon Boutique Hotel, Pollenca
The one we've earmarked for ourselves next time - a small, recently refurbished boutique hotel in the heart of Pollença's old town, quiet and full of character & close enough to the mountains that the Tramuntana climbs are on the doorstep. Slow-paced, well-fed and a step up in style, for when you want to treat yourself after a hard week of riding.
